At LCTC it is our mission to provide quality career, technical, and academic education opportunities for all learners to become contributing members of our community.

 

Vision:

The priorities established in our strategic plan center around creating a learning experience for every student that addresses aspects of college and career readiness, technical skills, literacy, and career credentials. Additionally, all students should have opportunities to partner with local industry leaders in order to develop professional relationships that extend beyond the classroom and graduation. While Career and Technical Education (CTE) is the foundation of our curriculum; instructors believe students should also acquire the necessary employability knowledge, skills, and credentials to successfully enter employment, continue their education, or enlist in the military.

At LCTC, we have the opportunity to serve high school students from Camdenton, Climax Springs, Macks Creek, and School of the Osage districts. Additionally, LCTC’s Adult Programs serve adult students working toward certifications that allow direct movement into the skilled workforce.

Community and Industry Support

All Career and Technical Education Instructors seek regular feedback from area business and industry professionals. Each of our programs has an advisory council of professionals who provide guidance and offer recommendations related to curriculum, program development, key competencies, and appropriate Industry Recognized Credentials. Additionally, our instructors have partnered with our community in the implementation of the LCTC Employability Transcript that will be used to measure and promote mastery of critical employability/ soft skills that are needed to develop future-ready students who are prepared for life beyond high school graduation. The primary focus areas for the transcript are: Reliability, Professionalism, and Work Ethic.

Equipment, cutting-edge technology, supplies, textbooks, curriculum, safe facilities, and professional development opportunities are equally important to the overall educational aspect of the school culture at LCTC. All technical programs infuse academics into the training; this includes reading, writing, communication skills, mathematics, and science appropriate to the coursework. Students who enroll in a block career and technical course may obtain embedded academic credit in mathematics, communication arts, and/or science. Students are also able to obtain dual credit within specific programs through the following postsecondary institutions:  Missouri State University, Missouri State University-West Plains, Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC), State Fair Community College (SFCC), and State Technical College.  

 

Career and Technical Student Organization (CSTO) Opportunities

Career and technical student organizations are an important part of our curriculum. These organizations are: FFA, FBLA, FCCLA, Future Healthcare Professionals (HOSA), and SkillsUSA. Each of these clubs promotes leadership, community service, skills competition, confidence, and socialization skills. The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is an honorary organization for seniors who excel in both their regular academic courses and their career and technical courses. The graduates of 2021 were the first eligible class to earn the Career Technical Education (CTE) Certificate, which was legislated in 2016. To earn this certificate, students have to meet specific state and local criteria as determined in the most current MO School Improvement Process (MSIP) performance standards.

 

Community Education

Community Education is another facet of LCTC. These courses offer short-term, personal enrichment in different interest areas. Courses take place in the evenings and on weekends in the areas of creative arts and crafts, horticulture, fitness and recreation, motorcycle safety, and trade and industrial education.
