hello students and parents my name is Lynn Kramer and I'll be teaching game design did repair and computer networking this year I wanted to show you a little presentation about what we'll be doing this year in a kind of equipment and software you I'll see if I can shut that door okay computer integration we've got three main classes got video game design that's to your course 1 hour computer repair which is a 2-hour block the last for a year and we have networking fundamentals this is also to our last and last for one year video game design is going to be third and fourth periods this year your first year you going to use that makes 2D games nice simple 2D games if you'd like to get a head start you can download it for free It Go games.com will also use Unity to make two and 3D games and that when we have to do some scripting but it's nothing that you guys can't handle the first this is what the game maker interface looks like pretty simple drag-and-drop you can also use some game maker scripting but it's no it's mostly going to be where I can drop to begin will recreate some games out how to get a feel for the software then we'll let you loose let you make your own games from scratch you can recreate old games if you want or you can create new games completely from scratch then it's comeback second I want that game design games onto and greens Unity to do 2D and 3D games it's a little more involved and you have to do some scripting in it but nothing that you guys can handle right now computer repair is a 2-hour block be in the morning this year 1st and 2nd hours we're going to take a look at everything inside a computer case how all that Hardware goes together how they all work with each other and how to repair the ones that are broken Russell go take a look at the operating systems and I make these machines come to life will do a little bit of Windows 7 8 and Linux but mostly we're going to see Windows 10 right now the certification that you earn from this class is called a PC Pro has to test out version of that and then if you would like to go ahead and get your CompTIA the equivalent to that is the A+ if you do well with the dust out PC Pro you should be able to pass A+ that's the first rung on your career ladder right networks on the Mills it's a 2-hour block and just us this year it'll be in the afternoon 56th hours talk about the different network media the way that we do the cables that transmit the data from one point to the next fiber optics copper and wants to talk a little bit about Wi-Fi which uses radio waves talk about the network devices that we connect together to make day to go from one place to the other wireless access points use radio waves hubs repeater switches routers gateways and servers they all work together to get data we're supposed to go also talked about Network operating systems with your little different than client operating systems in the fact that they have a lot more security and ways to keep hackers and viruses out of your system the industry recognized credentials for networking is called netpro Network Pro and then the equivalent CompTIA test to that would be Network plus and this will be the second run on your career ladder and then if you complete these at once you graduate from here I would recommend that you go to at least a two-year school possibly Blendtec probably be a good one ranked in any of these places and continue with vacation there you would probably go ahead and get your server certification probably and your security one and they'll be other ones that you can get to the more certifications you have the more likely you are to get hired I hope that presentation explain a little bit about what classes are going to be like and what when are we doing can't wait to meet you guys and I'll leave you guys have some photos of some former students doing some work so you can see Houston
