This course will introduce students to various components in the field of criminal justice. Students will research careers within criminal justice, understand how constitutional laws apply to law enforcement, and learn how to process a mock crime scene.

This intensive, academy-style course prepares students for immediate entry into the law enforcement and public safety fields. The curriculum provides hands-on training in critical police operations, including crime scene processing, forensic evidence collection (fingerprints, DNA), investigative interview and interrogation techniques, tactical patrol procedures (traffic stops, defensive tactics, handcuffing), and firearm safety/marksmanship. A major focus is placed on exposing students to as many elements of law enforcement as possible. Upon successful completion, students will earn both a Jailer Certification and an Emergency Dispatcher Certification, qualifying graduates for direct employment in the law enforcement sector immediately following high school. Students will also earn an Industry Recognized Credential from the Missouri Police Officers' Association.
